POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Culinary Staff member plays an integral role in ensuring that Cedars' kitchen operates in a manner that aligns with the goals of the treatment program. The position is responsible for creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment conducive to producing healthy, nutritious meals for patients. This individual will work collaboratively with the Culinary Team and will actively contribute to a patient-centered approach to care, enhancing the overall patient experience at Cedars.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

The list below is a guideline and may not be inclusive of all that is expected on a day-to-day basis. Culinary Staff are required to prioritize and respond to the needs of the daily operations of Cedars in a professional and calm manner.

Food Preparation and Service:

o Collaborate with the Culinary Team to assist in prepping, preparing, and serving meals to patients and staff.

o Ensure food is prepared safely and in alignment with established food safe and health authority guidelines.

o Set up workstations, ensuring all necessary ingredients and equipment are readily available for meal preparation.

Dishwashing and Cleaning:

o Operate dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, cookware, and utensils used during meal service.

o Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment by following daily sanitation measures, including cleaning equipment and kitchen surfaces.

o Dispose of trash and recyclables in accordance with waste management protocols.

Sanitation and Health Standards:

o Ensure the kitchen meets all health and safety requirements, with a focus on maintaining food safety standards.

o Participate in daily sanitation routines, including equipment cleaning and adherence to cleanliness protocols.

o Monitor kitchen supplies and notify supervisors of inventory needs, ensuring that cleaning and sanitizing products are adequately stocked.

Collaboration and Communication:

o Work closely with chefs, cooks, and other staff to ensure seamless kitchen operations, especially during peak mealtimes.

o Communicate effectively with the Culinary Team to address any challenges that arise, such as equipment malfunctions or scheduling adjustments.

o Assist with unloading deliveries and properly storing food and kitchen supplies.

Patient-Centered Approach:

o Engage with the patient experience by understanding and supporting the dietary needs and preferences of the patient population.

o Foster a collaborative and positive environment in the kitchen that reflects Cedars' commitment to holistic care and recovery.



QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certification in Food Safe or willingness to obtain upon hire Ability to clearly communicate verbally, and in writing. Ability to maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude in a busy kitchen environment. A commitment to creating a positive environment conducive to healing for both patients and staff. Applicants who identify as being in recovery require a minimum of six months of substance-free time before being considered for this role.
