Job Description


Position Summary:Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer (short term) and Program Director (long term), the incumbent provides leadership for Culinary Arts Programs. The faculty must have a deep ownership of all aspects of their program, exemplifying and communicating a strong vision of success to all stakeholders. They are responsible for meeting individual and team KPIs/SMART goals. The incumbent primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: faculty assignments; student scheduling and support; participating in committees; leading or otherwise participating in relevant external events; fulfilling commitments to external regulatory bodies; collaboration between Culinary Arts/Baking and Pastry; and maintaining the quality and relevance of program curriculum. He/she also participates in activities that promote the stature of the department and LaSalle College Vancouver and abides by the mandates set by the Board of Directors, the President and the College Leadership Team. The faculty is supported by and participates in reviews with the External Culinary Consultant.Key Job Responsibilities:ACADEMIC LEADERSHIPStudents

  • Improve the student learning experience and provides them with mentorship, feedback, and assessment
  • Promote a culture of positive relations between students as well as among students and faculty
  • Manage student related operations such as scheduling, registrations, records management, and appeals
  • Lead practicum placements for Culinary students
Faculty
  • Works with Academic Director, Program Director, and/or CAO to select, hire, and manage faculty (training, performance \xe2\x80\xa6 etc.)
  • Encourage faculty to collaborate with one another and engage with the greater community
  • Provide department update at monthly faculty meetings
  • Build a team approach, including faculty consultation
TEACHINGTeach 15 sections each calendar/academic year, or as assigned by the Chief Academic OfficerCURRICULUMWorks with members of the academic team on:
  • Providing annual program review and recommend changes for growth and renewal
  • Ensuring curriculum is relevant and pedagogically appropriate
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and creating course materials including: syllabi and course materials
  • Supporting and maintaining the compliance requirements for regulatory bodies, e.g. PAC, Skills BC
OPERATIONAL
  • Foster and promote inter-departmental collaborations to work toward the vision and mission statements
  • Participation in events
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Admissions to achieve enrolment success
  • Work with the team on cultivating external partnerships (industry, institutional partnership credit transfer, alumni) and collaborate on events
  • Fulfill expectations as set in the Board approved Strategic Plan
  • Participate in all College events including Convocation, Portfolio Shows, Open Houses, All-School meetings, and other such events as directed by the CAO
  • Serve on College committees as directed by the CAO
  • Oversee or participate in special projects as directed by the CAO
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned
Job Requirements:Knowledge:
  • Red Seal (or in progress)
  • PIDP (or in progress)
  • Minimum of 3 years related and increasingly responsible experience in Academics or industry
  • Advanced certifications or credits towards further study are highly preferred
  • Advising and teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Fiscal and personnel management experience
