What you will do...





Foster a place of safety by ensuring all lifeguarding procedures are adhered to. In the absence of the Aquatic Program supervisor, the Head Guard takes a leadership role to ensure that all policies and emergency procedures are followed. Supervise and support swimming lessons to ensure quality and consistency of swimming instructors and programs. Review, on an ongoing basis, lesson plans and progress evaluations of aquatic instructors. Provide a high standard of customer service to all participants. Complete registrations and maintain waitlists using the YMCA Member Information/Registration system. Responsible for daily pool logs and monitoring pool chemistry. Create lasting memories and lifelong friendships with your peers working together in the aquatic environment.

You will be committed to working in a socially inclusive environment, responding with sensitivity to diverse needs. You will have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with staff, YMCA community members and pool patrons. You will have 1-2 years of lifeguarding experience. You will possess:

Current National Lifeguard certification, Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED and, Swim Instructor certification Aquatic fitness certification and/or advanced instructor certifications are an asset. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older.
