Regulatory Team Leader (2300400)
Where the Chemistry Happens\xe2\x80\xa6
The Regulatory Team Leader (RTL) is responsible for a leading a team of several Regulatory Team Members. The individual is expected to assume leadership on teams both internally and externally. Externally, leadership opportunities include industry wide-forums, such as task forces and trade association committees. The RTL provides technical advice and submission strategies as they align to the Canadian Business.
The Regulatory Team Leader is also responsible for a small portfolio of products. This includes preparing regulatory submissions to the PMRA, handles a portfolio of products with the goal of ensuring timely registrations that meet commercial objectives. Current product registrations are maintained and supported with appropriate technical information as part of a broad product stewardship process. The RTL has an area of expertise in science or policy that allows specialization in developing regulatory strategy for BASF Ag products in Canada.
In their area of expertise, the Regulatory Team Leader provides advice to the Regulatory team and Management on best practices to support registration and commercialization of BASF products. The RTL monitors Canadian and international regulatory trends and serve on industry/expert committees to achieve balanced and practical regulatory requirements.
Formula for Success: You Will\xe2\x80\xa6

  • Manage a small team of Regulatory Professionals by providing technical and submission guidance.

  • Work in the team environment to guarantee seamless communication and to gain buy-in on regulatory strategies and innovative registration approaches from internal stakeholders.

  • Ensuring freedom-to-operate, understand the Canadian landscape (and to a lesser extent, international) and regulations governing crop protection products.

  • Support the business goals of Molecule Team (Long-range Planning Process), develop a registration timeline and project plan that optimizes the commercial opportunity.

  • Monitor Canadian and international regulatory activity regarding BASF actives, especially those scheduled for federal Re-evaluation and renewal.

  • As the main BASF Canadian contact to PMRA, answer data-call-ins and responds to regulators questions, liaising with BASF personnel in the US and Germany as appropriate.

Qualifications
Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Minimum background of a university degree in science, preferably with a post-graduate degree with a minimum of 13-15 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience.

  • A specialization in a scientific discipline relevant to agricultural regulatory science (such as chemistry, environmental science etc) is highly desirable.

  • knowledge of chemistry and general biology and an understanding of risk assessment.

  • Ability to discuss regulatory issues with government authorities on topics including technical information as well as policy matters.

  • Strong negotiating skills are mandatory.

  • High degree of independence in developing regulatory strategies and regulatory stakeholder advocacy, managing people, and day to day decision making.
