We're hiring a Global Environmental Exposure Assessment Team Leader

Corteva Agriscience(TM) is seeking an experienced scientist to lead and develop our growing environmental exposure assessment team within Regulatory Science. The Global Environmental Exposure Assessment Team Leader is a senior position that provides strategic direction and support to environmental exposure experts responsible for modelling, kinetics, field studies, dossier preparation and rebuttals to support regulatory submissions around the world. The Team Leader will also provide discipline-specific support to regulatory teams, manage resources and task allocation, develop, and execute the scientific capability strategy, manage capacity needs, and oversee people development for the technical group.

You Will be a Part of Growing Team

The Global Environmental Exposure Assessment Team Leader interacts with other technical team leads in Regulatory Science, internal and external experts in the technical area to keep abreast with advances in the field, functional leadership to keep aligned with company strategies, and regional and country regulatory leaders to maintain awareness of regulatory changes.

Your Challenge:

  • As Team Leader you will provide technical leadership to:
  • Ensure an appropriate technical, regulatory strategy across all projects for their team.
  • Maintain knowledge of scientific and regulatory developments for their discipline and ensure specific actions are implemented through functional experts in project plans.
  • Collaborate with internal or external experts to stay updated on current developments in the field.
  • Provide guidance on the path forward for any unexpected technical data observations that can impact multiple projects.
  • Accountable for delivery of the agreed program of work.
  • Develop and execute a long-term science strategy for the technical team.
  • Develop and implement best practices in their technical discipline.
  • You will also manage the team to:
  • Allocate work considering individual strengths and in alignment with project timelines.
  • Ensure high standards for scientific quality and compliance are set and maintained.
  • Enable team collaboration for technical troubleshooting and engage with others outside of the team as needed.
  • Understand team capacity, monitor demand changes, and enable resource availability by working with functional leadership.
  • Enable people development plans and make learning and development opportunities visible to team members.
  • Develop and maintain succession plans for critical roles in the team.

Qualifications

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need
  • An advanced degree in environmental sciences, environmental chemistry, or related area (Ph.D. preferred; candidates with M.Sc. and relevant technical and people leadership experience will be considered)
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in environmental exposure assessment or modelling, working within multi-disciplinary project teams, preferably in crop protection, with a full understanding of EU and US regulatory systems.

  • A strong scientific background coupled with curiosity and critical thinking skills to deliver innovative environmental exposure assessment strategies for new and existing chemistries while understanding and applying the crop protection regulatory framework.
  • Be recognized as an expert by peers inside and outside the company and by regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrated people and technical leadership abilities to manage and coordinate teams and multiple priorities in a timely and effective manner.
  • Effective inter-personal skills and demonstrated teamwork abilities are key to this global role, to create and maintain collaborative and inclusive relationships, positively influence decision-making processes, while keeping teams engaged and motivated to deliver and develop.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills that allow dissemination of complex technical issues in a straightforward and concise manner, along with the ability to adapt this information to a variety of scientific and non-scientific audiences, internally and externally.
  • Excellent project management and organization skills.
  • Ability to build networks and bridge functional areas for the implementation of novel ideas and projects.
