Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a contract overnight part-time 16 hours per week, Crisis Intervention Worker in EDMONTON to join our Lurana Shelter team. This position has a weekly schedule of:

Friday and Saturday (Overnight) 11pm-7am, Contract will end on March 31, 2026.



Program Overview:



Lurana Shelter is a first stage shelter for women and their children fleeing family violence. Providing safety, physical, psychological and spiritual care to them during their stay in Lurana.



Job Summary:



Assess the risk and vulnerability of the individual and respond with appropriate risk management strategies, adhering to agency protocol. Advocacy for social justice and reducing barriers to women and their children in accessing services. Residential management - conflict resolution, facilitation of room changes, facilitation of house meetings, packing and storage of personal belongings, cleaning of rooms and getting it ready for incoming families. Provide shelter orientation, support and crisis intervention from an empathic and non-judgmental stance to all individuals seeking service from the shelter inclusive of walk-in clients Provide telephone and walk-in crisis support to individuals who are seeking assistance through the crisis line and who may not be accessing services as a residential client at the shelter. Crisis Workers will facilitate referrals to the ICM Team. Ensure all crisis calls are entered in platform with appropriate referrals given. Demonstrate professionalism and a willingness to collaborate with community partners through investment in the development of working relationships. Act as a liaison between Lurana Shelter, residents, other community members and service providers Provide accurate referrals and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of community resources as well as the programming available through the shelter and internally and externally. Provide a complete, concise and accurate shift change and contribute to the Crisis Worker Communication binder consistently. Information relating to risk will be communicated to management and to teammates as priority for safety and monitoring. Maintain accurate files and case notes demonstrating appropriate, objective, professional standards of documentation. Ensure and maintain resident confidentiality - communicating the limits to confidentiality to all clients during service provision. Maintain accurate statistics of residents and children Comply with ALL assigned shift duties inclusive of housekeeping chores Comply with ALL policies and procedures of the shelter to ensure operations function safely and the dignity of clients and staff is respected. Provide orientation, support and supervision to new employees, practicum students and volunteers as required. Attend all staff meetings and in service training Ensure serious occurrence reports and all Incident reports are logged into Sharevision for access by Team Leader and Program Managers Perform other duties as required

What This Job Requires:



Diploma/Degree in human services or equivalent, Social Work degree is preferable Three (3) years of experience in working with women and children experiencing family violence who may have complex needs

The ideal candidate will have an organized and compassionate approach to the work, strong independent/team work skills, a commitment to developing positive supporting relationships, and experience supporting families. Other qualifications include:

A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. Excellent teamwork and team building skills. High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Strong knowledge of intimate partner violence, risk assessment, safety planning, trauma-informed care and harm reduction Strong knowledge of case management and community resources Must be non-judgmental and empathic and dedicated to the pursuit of social justice Must have the ability to work in a highly stressful and non-structured environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Confidentiality an absolute requirement Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months
