Our courses cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to business, technology and health. These courses are offered in a variety of formats on campus, online, in the workplace, and in the community.

Course Description:

Practice the foundational skills required of massage therapists including draping, bolstering, positioning, informed consent, communication, self-care, body mechanics, and ergonomics. Be introduced to client assistance and transfer skills.


Course Learning Outcomes:




Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

This blended course has an online lecture and in-person components. The instructor will use the approved curriculum; implementation of applicable curriculum assessment measures; marking and submitting final course grades. The instructor will also be required to maintain regular contact with the administration team and adhere to university policies and deadlines.

Lesson preparation (record video lectures etc.) Course delivery Marking/grading Course outline preparation Facilitate course delivery using approved curriculum and learning materials Review and revision of course assessments An online instructor is required to access the course daily; however, there are no predetermined times of the day an instructor is required to be online. Online instructors must have reliable internet service throughout the entire period of the course. Reply to students within 24-48 hours.

Administration:




Marking and submission of course grades Maintain regular contact with the program administrative team Participate in virtual instructor meetings and individual meetings with the program coordinator as required Participate in meetings and adhere to university policies and deadlines





Qualifications

Post-secondary credential in a related field Proficient understanding of the Inter-Jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators for Massage Therapists at Entry-to-Practice. Working knowledge of copyright and APA citation Excellent communication skills Experience with accreditation Instructional experience in an adult education environment is an asset Strong organizational and time management skills Self-motivated and self-directed Proficiency with Google Workspace Proficiency with the D2L learning management system is an asset
