Instructor for RMT students: Massage theory and Practice 100 (Year 1, term 1)

Position:
Practical Instructor, MTP100
Massage Theory and Practice 100 introduces students to the fundamentals of massage therapy practice
. Topics include foundational Swedish massage techniques, an introduction to trigger point therapy, proper body mechanics, stress management, hand and body care, taking a health history, and an introduction to conducting client interviews. Students explore the history of massage, the roles of massage therapists and spa practitioners, and how to recognize indications and contraindications for treatment. The course emphasizes professionalism, self-care, and effective client communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver hands-on instruction aligned with course objectives and clinical standards
Demonstrate techniques and assess student competency in a supportive, professional manner
Provide clear, constructive feedback to guide skill development
Organize and deliver practical exams
Monitor safety and hygiene protocols during all practical sessions
Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and evaluations
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support overall student success
Qualifications:
Current registration in good standing with the CCHPBC
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as an RMT
Previous teaching or mentoring experience in massage therapy is an asset
Strong communication, observational, and interpersonal skills
Enthusiasm for education and supporting students at the beginning of their careers
