JOB DESCRIPTION



Position Title:

Credit / Accounts Receivable Manager

Department:

Finance

Position Reports to:

Chief Financial Officer



Position Summary:



The Credit / Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire credit process. You will use your strategic perspective and experience to drive results within the credit department while utilizing your leadership abilities to maintain and develop positive customer care relationships both internally and externally. Additionally you will provide mentorship to motivate and influence excellence within the team. You are responsible to ensure consistent application of the credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers. You are to maintain strong technical accounting knowledge as this role is crucial for maintain the financial health of the organization by ensuring the timely collection of receivables.



Key Responsibilities:



Maintains the corporate credit policy and provides recommendations for improvements to senior level management Manages customer account process through Bectran and ensures timely approvals for new customers and prompt escalation of incomplete applications Assesses risk for the Company through clear, concise and timely decisions Reviews the credit scoring model and approves credit lines and establishes credit terms Monitors collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures Audits for delinquent accounts and takes appropriate action to ensure maximum efforts have been taken for collection before assigning bad debt status Measures departmental performance with appropriate metrics providing weekly and monthly updates Develops strong relationships with peers and all levels of the sales team and ensures issues are resolved Responsible to review and maintain customer database and integrity of information Fosters collaborative relationships with external customers and third party credit agencies Works with legal firms on delinquent accounts Personally investigates the large customer credit applications Overseas credit reviews and monitors for concerns Prepares annual budget forecast, and resolves quarterly budget discrepancies for department Adherence to all Health & Safety, Food Safety and WHMIS practices Complete and keep up to date on all Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality Assurance training pertinent to the role Responsible for reporting any and all concerns related to the Health & Safety, safe handling and integrity of all items received, stored and distributed by Flanagan Foodservice Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



5+ years of credit management experience Minimum two (2) years of proven Leadership experience Bachelor's Degree in Business and experience with credit scoring systems preferred Extensive demonstrated knowledge of credit-related laws A CCP (Certified Credit Professional) Designation and active participation in the Regional Credit Association an asset Must be a strategic leader who maintains a departmental organizational structure sufficient to meet all goals and objectives Skilled in conflict-resolution, mediation, and effectively resolving situations in a timely manner Proven ability to read, analyze, and interpret collection legal documents, customer financial reports, bankruptcy and insolvency papers, receivership documents, division performance reports, banking card agreements, and other legal and financial documents Demonstrated ability to effectively present credit and collections related information to senior management, public groups, and/or boards of directors Experienced negotiator with solid influencing skills.
