Job Summary
This position performs research, development, implementation and operational support in the creative design, fabrication and installation of a wide variety of print, sign, display and infrastructure components. This position is integrated in the Operations team, works closely with the Visitor Services team and collaborates with other divisional teams as needed.

Qualifications
  • A two-year graphic design diploma, and 3-5 years related experience, including desktop publishing experience and sign production experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in guiding and directing work teams.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 BC Driver\xe2\x80\x99s Licence.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
People working in this role can expect to be responsible for performing the following duties. This list is not meant to be comprehensive and other related duties similar in scope and complexity may be performed.
  • Responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, equipment replacement/upgrades, inventory and ongoing operations of all facets of the Regional Parks Sign Shop.
  • Makes purchases, coordinates and reports on Sign Shop budget as directed.
  • Researches, identifies and recommends appropriate materials and production methods to best meet signage and display needs. Builds prototypes, develops templates and drafts standards.
  • Researches, identifies and recommends the appropriate application of internal and external sign standards.
  • Works collaboratively with others to align communications products with corporate guidelines, branding practices and standards.
  • Collaborates on design and implementation of sign standards and graphic guidelines for regulatory, directional and informational signage.
  • Coordinates projects related to the installation regulatory, directional and informational signage.
  • Designs and fabricates regulatory, directional and informational signage.
  • Collaborates on creative design, fabrication and installation of interpretive program exhibits, displays and interpretive/educational signage.
  • Collaborates with divisional staff on design and fabrication of information signage, publications, reports and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Collects sign data information utilizing various GPS equipment/devices.
  • Provides work guidance and direction to small work crews in the installation and repair of park signage.
  • Supports staff with repairs on signage and other related displays and fixtures.
  • Designs, fabricates and installs corporate branding, industry and safety ID decals.
  • Consults on the acquisition and use of relevant design equipment, tools and technologies.
  • Follows all policies, procedures and standards of the CRD.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To be successful at the CRD, candidates should have a shared understanding of our Cultural Traits and Statement of Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Additionally, ideal candidates would possess the following role specific knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Proficiency and experience with word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets (MS Excel), presentation (PowerPoint), web editing, electronic mail and the Internet and sign software.
  • Superior demonstrated practical skills in creative design and desktop publishing (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) and the production of public information materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in communications planning, service delivery and project management.
  • Detailed understanding of sign production and fabrication methods and sign software applications.
  • Ability to work with digital files and designers/contractors to produce high quality communications products within tight timeframes and budgets.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills are required.
  • Superior writing and editing skills with experience in proofreading and technical writing.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task well under pressure, use initiative and deliver sound practical solutions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams and work groups to achieve goals.
  • Fosters and maintains a positive working partnership with other Parks staff to ensure timely responses and communications.
  • Works collaboratively to share skills and subject knowledge with team, divisional or interdepartmental project working groups and committees\xe2\x80\x99 knowledge of park and trail systems and working in protected areas.

Education : College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience : 3 years to less than 5 years
