We have an exciting opportunity in the Revenue Protection Department! The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is currently hiring for a Court Filing Clerk.
What You Will Do

  • Reporting to the Court Services Coordinator, the incumbent as a Provincial Offence Officer is responsible for providing the administration of all offences, supporting evidence and court information as it relates to Part I and Part III Provincial Offence Act (POA) charges.
  • You will be responsible for the daily entry and processing of POA ticket infractions in accordance with policies, procedures and legislated timelines.
  • Your role will include liaising with the Prosecutor to assist with early resolution meetings and trials as required.
  • In this role, you will also be responsible for the submission of charge packages and the coordination of deliveries and retrievals of sensitive documents and information.
  • The selected incumbent may respond to inquiries from Special Constables, Fare Inspectors and authorized external sources.
  • And other duties as assigned.
What Qualifications Do You Bring?
  • Completion of a college diploma or university degree in a related discipline or combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Provincial Offences Officer. Must be able to maintain this status while in this position.
  • Must have or acquire the ability to operate a desktop workstation to conduct queries through Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and/or Integrated Court Offences Network (ICON) terminal and other standard office equipment necessary to perform duties;
  • Sound interpersonal skills to clearly communicate detailed information with Fare Inspectors, Special Constables and outside authorized agencies.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized and have the ability to handle a high volume of work on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.
  • Candidate will be required to participate in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of court administration procedures and the court system;
  • Working knowledge of TTC By-law No. 1, Trespass to Property Act, Liquor License Act, Mental Health Act, Criminal Code of Canada, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act etc. is an asset
  • Working knowledge of law enforcement terminology and related processes (e.g. Crown Briefs, subpoenas, summonses).
  • Strong knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, the City of Toronto, software applications relevant to the work (e.g. word processing and spreadsheets).
  • Must possess sound knowledge and understanding of data entry procedures, with proficiencies in data accuracy, quality and strong keyboarding skills.
  • The successful incumbent must pass all applicable personal background checks as conducted from time to time.
  • Possession of a valid non-probationary Province of Ontario class G driver's license
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
