Muslim Social Services Waterloo Region (MSSWR) is seeking a compassionate and culturally sensitive

Registered Psychotherapist

who is fluent in

Arabic

to provide counselling services to our diverse client base. This is a part-time contract position with a focus on delivering therapeutic interventions and crisis support to clients in need, particularly individuals from immigrant, refugee, and newcomer communities.

Responsibilities

Counselling and Psychotherapy: Provide counselling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to individual clients, families, and groups. Crisis Intervention: Offer therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services when required. Group Counselling: Establish and facilitate group counselling for group therapy programs to address common issues faced by clients. Client Assessment: Collect data about clients through intake forms, interviews, and case history; evaluate information to identify causes of issues and determine appropriate therapeutic approaches. Service Coordination: Consult with other legal and service agencies as needed to ensure clients receive appropriate services and support. Advocate for clients to enable access to resources and services. Professional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other therapists, legal services, and support agencies. Refer clients to appropriate service providers when necessary. Follow-Up Care: Monitor the effectiveness of provided care and services; make recommendations for modifications when necessary. Program Development: Develop and present educational programs, workshops, and therapeutic programming to benefit clients and families. Therapeutic Programming: Develop and implement specialized therapeutic programs in response to client needs.

Qualifications

Registered Psychotherapist (RP) or RSW or MSW in good standing with a regulatory body (e.g., CRPO). Fluency in Arabic (required). Proven experience in providing individual and group therapy. Strong skills in crisis intervention, therapeutic assessment, and program development. Experience working with diverse populations, including immigrants and refugees. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and professional networks. Ability to work independently and manage client caseloads effectively.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge and experience in culturally sensitive therapeutic practices. Understanding of the social, cultural, and legal challenges faced by refugees and newcomers.
