We are seeking an innovation-obsessed and forward-thinking

Cosmetic Chemist

to join part-time as an extension of our Product Development team. This role is responsible for developing and optimizing innovative hair and body care formulations from concept to launch while ensuring product safety, stability, performance, and compliance with all applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities:



Formulate and develop innovative haircare, skincare, and/or body care products aligned with brand strategy and performance standards. Conduct ingredient research and source raw materials, staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and clean beauty innovations. Create and maintain detailed formulation records, batch sheets, and technical documentation. Perform stability, compatibility, and performance testing to ensure product quality and shelf life. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Packaging, Regulatory, Manufacturing) to bring concepts to market on time and within budget. Troubleshoot formulation challenges and reformulate as needed to meet performance, texture, and sensory expectations. Ensure all products comply with regional and global cosmetic regulations (e.g., Health Canada, FDA, EU). Support scale-up from lab batches to full manufacturing production, working with contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. 3+ years of experience in cosmetic haircare formulation Experience formulating clean, sustainable formulations Strong knowledge of cosmetic raw materials, formulation chemistry, and product stability principles. Familiarity with global cosmetic regulations and labeling requirements. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to innovate and think creatively. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with formulation databases is a plus. Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $35,500.00-$70,000.00 per year
