LOCATION: Toronto, ON
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTING TO: Chief Financial Officer
STRUCTURE: Potential for hybrid work model (2 days remote work/week) after completing the probationary period

POSITION SUMMARY

This role will supervise, facilitate, and monitor internal control processes and reporting, including risk mapping and action planning for Colas Canada Inc. and its subsidiaries. This role is responsible for financial analysis and preparation of quarterly statutory financial statements. Interaction and management of external auditors and analysis and application of accounting standards for Colas Canada Inc., is an important part of this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct general accounting work and analysis as required
  • Prepare quarterly statutory financial statements
  • Prepare financial and social reporting as required
  • Coordinate and facilitate compliance according to IFRS standards
  • Manage the internal control and risk management processes for the company
  • Organize, supervise, and monitor internal control self-evaluation campaigns
  • Conduct risk mapping for the organization, working in conjunction with business process and operations owners
  • Create and follow up on action plans, in conjunction with business process and operations owners
  • Actively lead the control of the internal audit and compliance process for operational entities
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly reporting of financial results within the Colas Group, according to IFRS Standards
  • Implementation of appropriate documentation and controls to ensure the quality of the financial information reported to the Group
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors on the correct application of accounting standards, including the correct dissemination and compliance at all levels within the principles of the Group's internal control reference documents
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Accounting Designation required (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • Minimum 5+ years of private sector experience, preferably in the construction industry (Civil engineering)
  • Good understanding of IFRS Standards
  • Experience in consolidation and presentation of financial statements
  • Experience in internal controls, compliance, risk management and auditing functions in the construction industry an asset
  • Computer proficient with demonstrated ability to use complex spreadsheet and financial reporting software (experience using JD Edwards an asset)
