The Leggat Auto Group is looking for a Corporate Controller to join our growing team!
To align and support our growth strategy, we are looking to add an experienced Corporate Controller, reported directly to the CFO, to enhance our Risk Management and support Dealership Controllers in the primary areas of Balance Sheet control and Expense management, utilizing the synergies associated with being a Dealer Group.
Proficiency in the PBS Dealer Management system is preferred with previous Reynolds and CDK experience welcome. Ideally, the successful candidate will have 10 years as a Dealership Controller now looking to take the next step of career advancement. A formal accounting designation is a plus but not mandatory.
Primary place of employment is Burlington but travel to Dealerships is required as necessary. Income commensurate with Experience. Car Allowance and Medical/Dental benefits are part of the Salary package.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create a formal review and reporting process to the Executive Team, CFO and Dealership General Managers/Department heads of the following:
• Open Service and Body RO's
• Parts and Service Accounts receivable
• Factory Accounts receivable
• Warranty Accounts receivable
• Overage Parts Inventory

• Random audits of New and Used Vehicle Sales Jackets to monitor OMVIC compliance and OEM programs properly applied.

• Support Dealership Controllers generally but specifically during the month-end close process.
• Provide Hands-on Accounting support at store level as required
• Establish a system for Controlling Company Demonstrators/Loaners to include Mileage and a plan for Eligibility based on position.
• To ensure All New and Used Vehicles are subjected to a physical audit at month end and reconciled to the Books with exceptions reported to the CFO.
• Assist the CFO with the Auditors at year end and Government audits as necessary.
• Select and organized Expense review with emphasis on Entertainment, Data Processing and Advertising. Explore opportunities to reduce Expenses through consolidation of Suppliers and economies of scale.
• Sign off monthly HST returns
• Formally provide back up of the CFO during vacation absences.
• Catalogue Dealership Maintenance contracts (HVAC, Snow, Landscaping)
• Work with the CFO and Dealership Controllers to centralize Accounts Payable as a means of reducing the cost of Cheque issuance and the risk of cheque fraud.
• To ensure Fixed Asset additions/disposals are properly approved and accounted for correctly.
• Provide any suggestions to improve Dealership controls over Assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA strongly preferred).
• 5+ years progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller role.
• Automotive dealership or multi-dealership group experience required.
• In-depth knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and compliance standards.
• Strong working knowledge of dealership management systems (Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, or Dealertrack).
• Proven track record of managing multi-location accounting teams.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
