Our office, located in the heart of Vancouver, has an opening for an experienced: CORPORATE ACCOUNTANT Our Corporate Accounting Team in Vancouver is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Corporate Accountant to join us as an integral member of the team. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, take initiative, be open to new challenges, have excellent communication skills, and will want to develop a career in accounting. As a member of the Corporate Accounting Team, you will provide analytical and accounting support on a variety of topics, while learning and understanding all components of our accounting cycles for various corporate divisions within West Fraser. Once you have developed an understanding of our operations and policies, you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in a specific area of our business. As a subject matter expert, you will become the go-to person for financial information including training other accountants and preparing reports for senior members of the finance team. Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and processing of month-end journal entries.
  • Responsible for bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure costs are coded correctly per the corporate coding manual.
  • Preparation of financial analysis for assigned trial balances/divisions including balance sheet and income statement variance analysis which explain changes in significant balances from period to period.
  • Completing monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Completing income statement account reconciliations for select accounts.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation for working papers to support financial reports.
  • Being a key resource with regard to adherence to accounting policies and SOX standards and procedures.
  • Participate in user testing and maintenance for financial business systems and related upgrades.
  • Daily upkeep of stats within related systems.
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of fleet accounting and coordination with the Capital Assets Management team.
  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned.
Our ideal candidate would have:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree, Accounting Diploma or relevant work experience.
  • Prior experience working as an accountant will be considered an asset.
  • Enrolment in the CPA program is preferred, not mandatory.
  • Prior experience with Oracle EBS or D365 will be considered an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, ability to manage pressure and meet deadlines.
