Responsibilities Include:
Maintain an efficient and effective accounting system, keep up to date with regulatory changes and make these known to the CEO
Works closely with the CEO with budgeting and budget issues
Assist with the preparation of the annual budget
Preparation and monitoring of monthly financial reports for management, investigating variance issues and preparing the financial sign-off documents on a monthly basis
Analysis of accounting data and generation of financial reports and other statistical reports for management and the Board of Directors
Develop, prepare, and manage the information required for various forms of corporate reporting to internal and external users
General ledger maintenance
Accounts Receivable: Responsible for the loan system, disbursements and recording all payments made on contributions
Prepare and maintain pre-authorized semi-monthly payments
Process all journal entries, account reconciliations, investment reconciliations, bank reconciliations
Payroll administration and issue T4s
Complete and submit payroll tax remittance
Administers the benefits package
Oversee the information technology needs of CCDF
Direct support to the CEO
Assists when necessary in human resource development through the sharing of knowledge and skills with other employees
Prepare year-end accruals and working paper documents
Work with the external auditor and Provincial Auditors Office for preparation of the year-end financial statements
GST rebate application
Maintain historical records by filing documents
Administers fixed asset management activities on a monthly basis to ensure current, accurate and complete records exist of all fixed assets.
Ensure corporate policies/financial controls are followed; make recommendations for any process improvements
Other duties as assigned
Skills Required:
Comprehensive knowledge of general accounting and financial reporting principles
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently, while also participating collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to prioritize and complete deliverables with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, problem solving and assessment skills
Education and Experience:
A diploma, certificate or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Finance/Accounting or an equivalent level of knowledge
Minimum of three (3) years of related experience working in accounting
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Proficient in the use of MS Office, especially Excel
