Role Description:

Reporting to the Manager of Core Network Engineering and Operations, the Core Network Engineer will be responsible for Eastlink\xe2\x80\x99s mobile core infrastructure. The incumbent will be working collaboratively, both within the team and with other departments, to deliver on projects, to ensure the operation of existing systems, and to participate in design of future systems and technologies.

Supporting a broad range of technologies, the candidate will need to have a high aptitude for self-learning, where research is often required. The role is that of a self-starter with good troubleshooting skills, excellent time-management skills, who thrives in collaborative environments and can handle tight timelines with high quality expectations. Some after-hours maintenance work, occasionally in our datacenters, will be required from time-to-time, as will participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in IT or Telecommunications-related field.
• 2-3 years of working experience in IT/Telecom related field.
• Any background relating to mobile core networks or telecom signaling protocols, is desirable.
• IP networking background desired. Certifications such as CCNA are an asset.
• Scripting/Programming background desired. Familiarity with node.js or Javascript is an asset.
• VoIP background desired. Any experience with SIP protocl is an asset.
• Any experience maintaining DNS systems (eg; Bind) is an asset.
• Working knowledge of packet analysers such as Wireshark is desired.
• Web development background is an asset.
• Any experience with cloud systems such as Openstack, or containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes, is an asset.
