Job Description


Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Open Space, The Coordinator of Operational Support is responsible for the coordination and direction of divisional support services to promote the efficiency and effectiveness of Parks operations through:

  • Parks and Opens Spaces Seasonal/Temporary Recruitment
  • Material Supply Chain and Expenditure Management
  • Provide direction, leadership, expertise and guidance to the Operational Support Services Branch
  • Analyzes and supports Parks Operations Support Service Delivery
  • Customer Service (311)
As the Coordinator of Operational Support you will:
  • Oversees and coordinates the Parks and Open Spaces Seasonal/Temporary workforce planning process, including placement, for the annual hire on and layoff of ~750 Parks seasonal staff.
  • Coordinates the management of the Division’s Material Supply Chain and monitors expenditures to ensure overall adherence to Division, Department and Corporate policies.
  • Provides direction, leadership, expertise and guidance to the Operational Support Services Branch.
  • Analyzes and supports Parks Operations Service Delivery – Service Based Costing.
  • Administers Parks 311 Customer Service Initiative.
Your education and qualifications include:
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree or related discipline or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education, training and management experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of diverse and progressive experience in staff supervision, administration and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strong decision making and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in management accounting (current and capital), activity-based costing, cost accounting, financial analysis, and service-based budgeting including budget development, analysis and control.
  • Strong inter-personal skills including communication, both oral and written, public presentation, formal report writing, team-building, problem solving and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, analyze complex issues, and prepare timely and thorough reports and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with community leaders, union officials, other levels of government, elected officials, general public, and staff in a unionized environment.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
Conditions of employment:
  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • The successful applicant is required to provide a vehicle for transportation while on City business, subject to the terms and conditions of the City Transportation policy.

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and overtime as required.
