About the Lambton Kent District School Board
With municipal offices in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the City of Sarnia, the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) provides educational services to more than 21,900 students in 62 elementary and secondary schools. Lambton and Kent Counties are made up of numerous small towns and communities situated in Southwestern Ontario, a geographic area surrounded by the Great Lakes.
The Board is committed to embracing diversity and eliminating discrimination and harassment. Part of this commitment involves recognizing that everyone has the right to be treated with respect and dignity, and to learn, teach and work in an environment that is free from oppressive barriers. LKDSB is also committed to upholding the Human Rights of every person - each and every day - and recognizes that schooling and education play an integral role in preventing, and working toward eliminating, discrimination and harassment in society more broadly. With this in mind, the Board is dedicated to nurturing the potential of all, which benefits everyone.
About the Role
In alignment with this commitment, the Lambton Kent District School Board is looking for a proven administrator who, as System Principal (System Coordinator) of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, will provide system-wide leadership to foster an inclusive, diverse and anti-oppressive culture throughout the Board. This will include providing strategic leadership in developing and implementing the Board Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan, while supervising the Elementary and Secondary Inclusive Diversity Consultants, as well as supporting and mentoring school administrators.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Education with responsibility for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, you will contribute to supporting and promoting human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion in the Board's schools and workplaces, with a commitment to fulfilling the LKDSB Strategic Priorities and Operational Plan, and assisting in monitoring the expected outcomes. A collaborative, dedicated professional, you will work closely with other System Coordinators in the Board and with a variety of education stakeholders, liaise with community partners and other departments within the LKDSB, and assist in developing strong partnerships in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion.
Leveraging your track record of success in the field, you will provide leadership in the implementation, integration and monitoring of inclusive diversity and anti-oppression education throughout the Ontario Curriculum, Grades 1 - 12, Kindergarten Program, Growing Success, Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting in Ontario Schools, and all supporting documents. You are equally prepared to assist with the Board Equity and Improvement Plan, in school improvement planning, and with data management and collection, and student achievement analysis.
The Board will count on you, as System Principal (System Coordinator) of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, to coordinate the development, implementation and timely reporting of Ministry and LKDSB initiatives, co-lead the Board's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, provide support to school-based Equity Leads, and coordinate the lead on the Teacher Performance Appraisals for Inclusive Diversity Consultants. You will also be expected to coordinate special projects, including hiring of personnel, along with professional development opportunities for other departments, administrators, teachers and early childhood educators.
About the Candidate
