Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Family and Social Services, the Coordinator of Justice Services will operate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which provides holistic services to Indigenous Peoples living in Kwadacha, BC. The Coordinator of Justice Services is responsible for administering the Khutsekzik' e' Justice Program and supporting Kwadacha members who are involved in the criminal justice system.
Act as an advocate for those navigating the criminal justice system as needed by establishing and maintaining relationships with the RCMP, the court system, and community resources.
Coordinate and participate in restorative justice services and circles.
Assist clients with problem solving and developing alternative measures and healing plans.
Liaise with relevant Indigenous and non-Indigenous community agencies and services.
Advocate for members and help them navigate the justice system.
Coordinate and facilitate land-based healing camps, workshops, and support groups.
Report statistics and complete narrative reporting for the Indigenous Justice Program.
Familiar with relevant legislature and justice-related processes.
Keep running records of all contact with RCMP, clients, court services, and/or other agencies.
Aid clients in the process of healthier living through referrals, support and guidance.
Establish healthy boundaries with community members and act as a role model for healthy living.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and strong knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, and reference checks
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and clear Driver's Abstract
