Job Summary

The Division is comprised of over 30 reporting units in six departments: Athletics and Recreation, Campus Services, Indigenous Affairs, Office of the Registrar, Student Recruitment and Global Engagement, and Student Services. As a unit within the Division of Student Affairs, the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) is responsible for providing institutional leadership in the delivery of a comprehensive student-focused accessible learning model and delivers training and education to further the University\'s commitment to provide equal access to all academic programs. CAL is a core academic support unit for both students and faculty, and contributes to the recruitment and retention of students and fosters services and programs that value academic success, inclusion, accessibility, and universally designed environments. Reporting to the Supervisor, Exam Services this role is responsible for supporting the daily operations, coordination, and on-going delivery of the university\'s accommodated testing, systems and procedures, with approximately 12,000 exams scheduled annually. The Exam Coordinator supports the development of systems and procedures that enhance the provision of excellent services to students and faculty, and works closely with academic units to integrate services, processes and communication.

Job Requirements
Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to organize large volumes of work under deadlines and constant interruption
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of students, faculty and staff, often in the context of emotional distress and/or crisis
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively (written, oral, electronic, phone), demonstrate active listening skills, patience, judgement, and discretion when dealing with students, faculty, staff, parents, team members and the general public
  • Demonstrated service excellence, including a warm, compassionate, and calm reception to students and others, despite high volume and multi-tasking work under pressure
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint)


Specialized Knowledge/Education:
  • Skilled with ClockWork Technology (exam booking) or other complex database software and a variety of assistive technology such as Kurzweil and Dragon
  • Knowledge of campus information systems preferred: FAST, Web Req, FAMIS and Banner
  • Familiarity with UVic services and programs preferred


Experience:
  • 3 years of experience in a post-secondary administrative environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience in a disability, counselling, mental health, or human service office working with a young adult population
