The salary range for this position is:




Recruitment range: $65,871 - $82,208 maximum starting salary

is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.

Performance range: $94,461

salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations Code.


Job Summary

Mandate/Core Purpose of Role




The University of Victoria has recently approved Distinctly UVic, the Equity Action Plan, and X?k??n?? ist?l | W?ENE?ISTEL. To meet the goals and objectives set out in all these plans, it is acknowledged that significant and lasting culture change is needed cross-institutionally. This transformation requires UVic to build and strengthen its internal capacity to confront existing structures and beliefs, and to introduce new ways of thinking and being. This approach will result in transformation that is generated and sustained over time from within; transformation of this kind goes beyond performing tasks to changing mindsets and attitudes.


To facilitate transformation change, UVic needs a strategic framework to achieve culture change and to build its collective capacity to meaningfully advance Indigenous- and human- rights and create a community of belonging, wellbeing, and accountability.


The Project Coordinator, Institutional Capacity Building is responsible for the day-to-day coordination of UVic's comprehensive culture change strategy and associated initiatives.


Objective



Reporting to the Associate Director, Indigenous- and Human- Rights, Institutional Capacity Building, the Project Coordinator works to advance UVic's culture change strategy.

This role supports:


University-wide culture change strategy Planning, implementing and supporting, evaluating, and reporting on the effectiveness of the institutional culture change strategy Collaborative efforts between OVPI/EQHR and other key campus units to develop proactive strategies to support capacity-building and culture change, including workshops and training, new assessment tools and reviewing past cases for opportunities to develop new methodologies going forward Job Requirements
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, and a minimum of 2 years' experience in complex project coordination. Previous university experience preferred.


Knowledge and skill requirements include:

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations. Knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and being and cultural protocols, as well as knowledge of event planning, coordination and delivery, and good judgment to coordinate culturally significant and respectful events. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use and engage with university systems and administrative software. Ability to understand and navigate parameters presented in the policies and procedures, strategic frameworks and initiatives, mission and values of the University Ability to think strategically and exercise independent judgment, balancing multiple priorities in a deadline driven environment. Ability to identify and analyze information, create reports, develop solutions, and implement effective strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
