About this Opportunity

As the Graphic Design Coordinator, you will work primarily in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop), have working knowledge Microsoft Office and Canva \xe2\x80\x93 and have a curiosity for learning new design tools and tricks. You will have a strong understanding of basic printing/production processes and bring to the team fresh ideas and design trends. You\xe2\x80\x99ll also have a willingness to welcome and incorporate feedback from design peers and internal clients, all while juggling overlapping deadlines to get the job done \xe2\x80\x93 and done right!


Reporting to Aecon\xe2\x80\x99s Senior Corporate Communications Manager, the successful candidate will work under the guidance of our Senior Director and Graphic Design Specialist, along with other cross-functional teams, to develop and produce a range of print and digital assets.


Key areas of responsibilities:

  • Ideate/design digital and print pieces in accordance with brand guidelines
  • Create digital and print templates in Canva, along with basic animations and videos
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet all project/submission deadlines
  • Collaborate with various cross-functional team members to articulate and execute designs
  • Understand and interpret high-level business and commercial concepts/objectives to develop suitable creative graphics for internal or client-facing documents and presentations
  • Contribute to organizational learnings and process improvement
  • Research new design ideas and stay on top of new channels/digital trends



Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Graphic Design diploma or degree (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of related experience in agency or in-house design environment
  • A portfolio that demonstrates strong aesthetics, design principles and design thinking
  • Mandatory Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) experience
  • Solid presentation skills and the ability to clearly articulate design ideas with external vendors and internal teams
  • Trained eye for detail, colour, typography and layout
  • Strong understanding of print production requirements
  • An ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, tight deadlines, and high-pressure situations
  • A proven track record as a self-starter who is highly organized and committed to honing your skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to express complex, technical concepts in audience-appropriate terms
  • Creative knowledge and experience with Canva with a good understanding of animation
  • Ability to use Microsoft programs (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Ability to lead as a dedicated contributor within a larger team environment, be open-minded, and embrace creative feedback and direction from others
  • Photography and video editing skills considered an asset
  • RGD membership/affiliation considered an asset
