Job Description

The Coordinator, Events and Communications supports the School of Computing Science's industry, community and recruitment strategies by developing, coordinating, and marketing events, as well as producing content to promote the success of students, faculty, staff and alumni of the School. Working closely with senior members in the School, the Communications Officer, Faculty of Applied Sciences, and event planning committees, the Coordinator serves as the principal contact and coordinator for all events hosted and sponsored by the School. The Coordinator is responsible for the development of written content to support the communication and recruitment activities and strategies for the School.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, or Marketing and four years previous experience in in public relations, marketing/communication, event management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of event management, and promotion.
  • Excellent knowledge of client relationship management.
  • Excellent customer service, public relations and marketing skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of communications and marketing strategies (e.g., web, print, social media).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral, written and presentation) skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent supervisory and volunteer management skills.
  • Excellent budget, financial management, and administration skills, including the ability to set budget priorities and organize administrative systems and procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills with the ability to copy-edit materials with a high level of detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of social media tools (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
  • Good knowledge of website content management systems and analytical tools (e.g., Adobe CQ5, Google Analytics).
  • Good knowledge of email marketing strategies and best practices (e.g., permission marketing, anti-spam legislations).
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a variety of settings while exercising tact, diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Ability to analyze customer satisfaction issues utilizing surveys and appropriate metrics.
  • Ability to use, edit and publish digital photography and videography.
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to produce content with a high level of detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in the use of image and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Proficient in the use of standard office applications, databases and desktop publishing applications (e.g. MS Office, Prezi, FASit, InDesign, Illustrator).
  • Proficient in the use of standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Good knowledge of website content management systems and analytical tools (e.g., Adobe CQ5, Google Analytics).
  • Ability to arrange suitable transportation to various work locations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
