YMCA of Southern Interior of BC is a charitable association dedicated to building strong kids, strong families and strong communities. Y programs provide experiences to over 30,000 individuals annually in the areas of health, fitness & recreation, childcare, day camping, employment and community health. With a current annual operating budget of $20 million, the association employs over 300 full- and part-time staff and has over 100 volunteers. YMCA of Southern Interior of BC serves a broad region but is based in the City of Kelowna; situated about 400 km east of Vancouver in the Okanagan Valley. With a population of 180,000, the area is located on the edge of Lake Okanagan and is renowned for its spectacular lake and mountain setting, vineyards, and range of recreational opportunities, such as skiing, hiking, sailing, and beaches. Kelowna weather offers hot, dry summers and mild winters. The Events and Communications Coordinator reports to the VP of Philanthropy and is an exciting opportunity for someone who likes to support a broad portfolio of fundraising using exceptional communication skills while being extremely organization with very strong time management skills, are critical to success in this position.   • Effectively collaborate with all departments to support the writing and development of grant proposals, program funding applications, donor engagement, stewardship, and impact reports, press releases and coordinating recognition activities.
  • Build effective appeals and renewal messaging for individuals and business to solicit donations and sponsorships.
  • Key coordination and implementation of Chairs Table Reception, Y signature events and 3rd party fundraising events.
  • Support of the Y\xc3\xa2\xe2\x82\xac\xe2\x84\xa2s Annual Staff Campaign.
  • Implement planned events including booking event space, arranging food and beverage, ordering supplies and AV equipment, communicating event logistics, ordering event signs, and ensuring appropriate materials are available on-site to meet the quality and brand expectations.
  • Support the development and execution of event ticket sales strategies including list and invitation development, payment processing, guest information collection, and tax receipting.
  • Ability to develop ideas for cause marketing campaigns and programs that drive donor engagement and awareness.
  • Coordinate the distribution of donor communications, annual reports, cases for support, and other marketing materials.
  • Liaise with all departments as well as identified members and program participants to gather and publish bi-monthly stories which demonstrate YMCA impact.
  • Manage donor relationship software - Raisers Edge data entry and queries, reporting, analysis and metrics.
  • Work closely with the Fund Development team to ensure accuracy and quality in donor database management.

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Fund Development, Event Management or related field
  • A capability and aptitude for continuous learning, exceptional attention to detail, oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative independently, work collaboratively with all departments and internal/external stakeholders while being a forward thinker
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge and understanding of CRA guidelines for charities
