Job Description

The Coordinator, Dialogue and Engagement supports the Centre's social enterprise by helping to implement stakeholder and public dialogue engagement initiatives on behalf of government clients, as well as support other dialogue and engagement projects at SFU's Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. The position is responsible for the delivery of stakeholder outreach activities, research and authoring sections of documents. The role oversees the work of students and volunteers. The Coordinator's key functions include servicing government clients through the Centre's social enterprise, supporting capacity building programming, assisting in the delivery of dialogue-based programming, and enabling collaboration between and across Centre programming.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Arts, Business, Communications, Social Sciences or another relevant discipline, with one year of relevant experience in consulting, public policy, planning, project management, communications, public engagement or similar fields, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Basic skills in dialogue, public engagement, or relevant subject areas.
  • Excellent planning, coordination and administration skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational, research and analytical skills with the ability to summarize complex information into reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficient in the use and application of social media platforms, including but not limited to: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Hootsuite.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines and work on a number of different initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to establish relationships and work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment, initiative, diplomacy and tact.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office applications.
  • Effective written and verbal English communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to use standard office and communications technologies.
  • Ability to network and build relationships with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Available for overtime, evening and weekend work, as required.
