CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Coordinator, Community Engagement ! The Coordinator, Community Engagement, will play a key role in the region, actively engaging the local community. The successful candidate will be the main local programmatic and administrative support conduit for the wider BC/Yukon team. The Coordinator will also be responsible for providing representational and logistical support to community events and initiatives as required.

Your impact at CNIB

  • Performs and coordinates programmatic, operational, administrative, and logistical responsibilities in the region.
  • Assists with onboarding and orientation processes for new volunteers and interns to the team.
  • Ensures understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures.
  • Champions CNIB's high standards of participants and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by interns and volunteers, and continuously upheld.
  • Proactively encourages and refers program participants to take advantage of CNIB programs and services that may benefit them.
  • Assists Program Leads in planning, implementing and growing Foundation programs.
  • Assists Program Leads in managing outcome evaluation processes for Foundation programs using a national framework.
  • Supports the CNIB BC/Yukon Team in developing and stewarding strong and effective partnerships with community organizations in the region that are aligned to and can help further our mission.
  • Builds strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
  • Proactively encourages and refers program participants to take advantage of CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering them opportunities to expand their support network and deepen their community engagement.
  • Becomes a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at all relevant external events in the region.
Requirements

Who you are
  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and competing priorities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ability to provide effective solutions to routine as well as complicated problems utilizing diplomacy analysis, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to respond to and resolve participants/interns/volunteer issues in a timely manner.
We want to hear from you if you:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in administration, customer service, and service delivery within a charity/not-for-profit organization or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record of success in volunteer coordination and administrative support roles.
  • Excellent customer service expertise.
  • A detail-oriented approach to all you do.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in working with various database customer relations management software applications (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to coordinate large volumes of materials and work to concurrent and/or conflicting deadlines.
  • Highly flexible and able to respond to new tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills.
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Volunteer engagement and management experience are considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
