CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Coordinator, Community Engagement! Reporting to the Manager, Programs & Operations, the Coordinator, Community Engagement, will play a key role in the region, actively engaging the local community. The Coordinator will be the main local programmatic and administrative support conduit for the wider BC/Yukon team.

This position requires a superior level of customer service expertise, accuracy, confidentiality, sound judgment and diplomacy in working with staff, volunteers, program participants and consumers. The Coordinator will also be responsible for providing representational and logistical support to community events and initiatives as required.

Your impact at CNIB

The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities:

Community Engagement and Program Operations:

  • You will perform and coordinate programmatic, operational, administrative and logistical responsibilities in the region
  • You will ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures
  • You will champion CNIB's high standards of participants and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by interns and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations
  • You will help make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers - promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity and developing the active volunteer base needed to support local programs and operations
  • You will Lead by example in bringing our values to life - working with passion, determination, ambition and a positive spirit to change people's lives, and society itself
Building strong community relationships:
  • You will build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences
  • You will proactively encourage and refer program participants to take advantage of CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering them opportunities to expand their support network and deepen their community engagement
  • Other duties as assigned.
Problem Solving/Time Frame of Impact
  • Ability to manage conflicting deadlines and competing priorities in a timely and efficient manner
  • Ability to provide effective solutions to routine as well as complicated problems utilising diplomacy analysis, creativity, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to respond to and resolve participants/interns/volunteer issues in a timely manner.

Requirements

Who you are
  • Proven track record of success in volunteer coordinnation and administrative support role
  • Excellent customer service expertise
  • A detail-oriented approach to all you do
  • Advanced proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly flexible and able to respond to new tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication and superior interpersonal skills. Portrays the appropriate professional image
  • Good relationship/team builder and networking skills
  • Knowledge of Accessibility Standards and best practices is an asset
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in administration, customer service, and service delivery within a charity/not-for-profit organization or equivalent experience as deemed suitable by CNIB
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional attendance at weekend and evening programming or events
  • Some local and Regional travel may be required
