Our team is looking for a Coordinator, Community Communications on a full-time basis working 35 hours per week anywhere in Canada. We support flexible work options including remote work where possible; with some in-person meetings based on your location. Discover. Innovate. Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world, with an estimated 90,000 Canadians living with the disease. We are privileged to be a part of a determined group of change agents who are working tirelessly to create a world free of MS. Some 1500 Canadians affected by MS serve as leadership volunteers on division and chapter councils and committees and an estimated 13,500 volunteers work tirelessly delivering programs, fundraising events, public awareness campaigns and social action activities. Through discoveries, innovation, and collective action, we will work together to alleviate the uncertainty that MS causes, help provide accessible options for disease management, and reach out to partners to eliminate physical and social barriers in our communities. Our strategy not only lays out the roadmap in our journey to create a world free of MS, but we hope it also provides inspiration for all in the MS community to connect and collaborate in order to advance treatment and care, enhance well-being, understand and halt disease progression, and prevent MS from happening. The role you will play

  • Work cross-functionally to support the marketing and communications needs of the community portfolio.
  • Enable staff and volunteers to promote public awareness, manage public reputation, and drive community engagement to advance the mission.
  • Work closely with the marketing and communications team and community staff and volunteers, to support the activation of targeted community media buys to create awareness of the work we are doing in communities.
  • Support content curation and creation, across multiple mediums such as MS Canada blog, website, social media, and print media, and other writing/editing support with an emphasis on meeting community needs.
  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate and develop e-communications in close collaboration with the community team.
  • Monitor online MS Canada regional Facebook community groups to support positive discussions and help facilitate community engagement.
  • Provide support to promote key marketing initiatives, community events and program offerings in communities.
  • Act as a liaison for media requests, working closely with the PR team and/or external PR agency stakeholders, to coordinate local/community interviews and provide messaging support and interview prep/media training.
Requirements What you will bring Are you someone who:
  • Has at least one to two years of experience in a marketing and/or communications role, or the equivalent education and experience?
  • Can communicate effectively to multiple internal and external community groups through various channels?
  • Crafts impactful content and messaging to influence and move target audiences that aligns with the overall strategy of the organization?
  • Initiates and nurtures relationships with key individuals and groups targeted at the enhancement of the organization's goals?
  • Works effectively in a changing environment?
  • Has experience in social media marketing including content creation, monitoring, tracking results, and engaging in two-way conversations?
  • Has experience with community event marketing and promotion?
  • Works well with community members in a collaborative manner to achieve shared goals?
