Ontario Health is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Coordinator to join our dynamic Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is part of a team responsible for processing payments exceeding $4 billion annually to suppliers, health service providers, and individuals.
As an Accounts Payable Coordinator, you'll play a key role in ensuring that all payment requests are valid, complete, and compliant with internal policies and controls. You'll apply professional judgment and skepticism to identify risks and errors, and contribute to maintaining the integrity of Ontario Health's financial operations. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where your commitment to accuracy, customer service, and continuous improvement will be highly valued.
Here is what you will be doing:Review, validate, and enter supplier invoices, ensuring accurate matching with purchase orders and verifying authenticity.
Process various non-invoice payments, including honorariums and funding to health service providers and individuals.
Assess expense reimbursements for compliance with Ontario Health policies, union agreements, and government directives.
Apply sound financial judgment and professional skepticism to detect and escalate potential fraud or errors.
Reconcile invoice discrepancies and supplier statements independently, escalating complex issues as needed.
Proactively follow up on missing information and educate internal stakeholders on policies and procedures.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and insights.
Maintain advanced knowledge of Workday ERP functionality and continuously seek opportunities to enhance efficiency.
Collaborate across Finance and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
Deliver excellent service to internal and external clients, building strong working relationships.
Perform cross-functional duties and uphold internal controls to prevent and detect fraudulent activity.
Here is what you will need to be successful:
Education and Experience1-5 years of experience in Accounts Payable or accounting, preferably in large, complex organizations.
College certificate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Accounting designation (or actively pursuing) is preferred.
Experience with Workday ERP is preferred.
Familiarity with the Management Board of Cabinet Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expense Directive is an asset.
Knowledge and SkillsStrong financial and business judgment, with a high level of professional skepticism.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical problem-solving abilities.
Ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
