The Husky Midstream Project Engineering team has an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Co-op student to provide technical and project engineer support to Engineering, Operations and Maintenance. Key pieces to the role are working as a team and independently on various engineering solutions to problems and opportunities within the Midstream network. The successful candidate will be highly organized, energetic, have a solid foundation in Electrical Engineering fundamentals and work well in a fast-paced team environment that requires taking initiative and managing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting electrical engineers in detailed engineering design for asset changes; ensuring codes, standards and company specifications are met.
  • Supporting Operations and Maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and optimizing midstream electrical & instrumentation equipment.
  • Preparing project designs, AFE cost estimates, economic justifications, project schedules and monitors project costs during execution of assigned projects.
  • Coordinating data collection and assisting in electrical system analysis in support of Husky\xe2\x80\x99s Electrical Safety Standard.
  • Participating in design reviews, risk assessments, and other tasks relating to the installation of electrical equipment.


Qualifications
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation (e.g., work visa)
  • Available to begin work in September 2023


Education
  • Currently enrolled in their 3rd year or onward in an Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Attached copies of transcripts
  • Currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered


Skills / Competencies
  • Previous pipelines, terminals, engineering or operations experience would be an asset
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office product suite
  • Familiarity with CSA 22.1 (Canadian Electrical Code) would be an asset
  • Previous experience with SAP would be an asset
  • Previous experience with ETAP Arc Flash Analysis would be an asset
  • Previous education or experience with Instrumentation would be an asset

Working Conditions
  • Office based role with periodic travel to field locations, driving required


Safety Sensitive
  • This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
  • Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver is abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Driver\'s License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role


Relocation
Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.
Note: Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.
