Your Opportunity
Stantec's Charlottetown office has an opening for 4-week Co-op Student (Geotechnical Engineering / Materials Testing / Environmental Engineering). In this role the candidate will have the opportunity to exercise their technical and interpersonal skills while gaining valuable experience required for their career in engineering. Your Key Responsibilities
Students will be introduced to a wide variety of geotechnical and materials consulting activities, including:
Field work: Field inspection and testing on projects of all types including soils, asphalt and concrete, surveying and environmental sampling and testing including surface water and groundwater quality sampling.
Laboratory testing: Typical lab testing for soils (sieve analysis, Proctors, moisture content, etc.), concrete and asphalt (Marshall testing, Marshall mix designs, etc.) for projects.
Analysis: Desktop, computer, and project team analysis of information to identify and define solutions.
Reporting: preparation of reports detailing the work carried out.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Motivated, self-starter, who works well in a team environment.
Must exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements.
Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in an Engineering Degree program or Construction Technology and Management program at an accredited post-secondary institution. Experience is not a requirement. Training will be provided.
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Some time will be spent in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
