As a valued member of our team, reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic group of cooks and cafe coordinators.




The successful applicant must be available to work during the sitting period of the 2025/2026 Provincial Parliamentary Calendar, which spans approximately from October 14, 2025, to June 5

th

, 2026. Flexibility during this period is essential. Working approx. 29 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, with the potential to work beyond this schedule, dependent on House requirements.




What You'll Do

You'll act with integrity to:




Prepare a wide variety of foods and menu items to the highest quality standards for the In Camera Dining Room or Quorum Cafe and all catering events. Maintain the kitchen health and safety standards, monitor, and record inventory and ensure work areas are clean and organized.

You'll support our collaboration as you:




Review menus, determine food preparation requirements and perform preliminary food preparation to ensure food service for events and meal deadlines is efficient and meets service standards. Prepare, cook, and assemble food such as meats, fish, salads and dressings, soups, sauces, sandwiches, vegetables, desserts, pastries, baked foods, hot and cold buffets and non-alcoholic beverages for breakfast, lunch and catering events. Create specialty dishes and develop recipes under the direction of the Executive Chef.

You demonstrate excellence through your:




Adherence to all required health and safety regulations and procedure, and all food safety standards for hygiene, sanitation and safety. Performance of menu and nutrition planning, food costing and checking product quality and quantity. Ensuring of all work areas, equipment and utensils are maintained and/or stored in a clean, tidy, sanitary and secure manner during and/or at the end of each shift. Certificate of trade qualification in cooking (Red Seal preferred), with a minimum of 6 months cooking experience in a hotel, restaurant or private club facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Completion of Food Safety certification (required) Completion of a course in large volume cooking from a vocational school or institution preferred. Experience with standard practices, methods and procedures of large volume food preparation and service, including bakery products and desserts. Ability to: + train others in general cooking and kitchen work.
+ estimate quantities and prepare foods with a minimum of waste.
+ follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
+ maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
