Summary of Position
Under the direction of the Food Services Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparation of all meals, serving meals, accepting and putting away delivered supplies, ordering designated supplies, operating all equipment in a safe and sanitary manner.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Cooks and prepares breakfast, lunch, diner, special dietary items, catering items, snacks according to direction and by following menus and recipes;
Ensures that all food is prepared and portioned as outlined;
Ensures that sanitation and safety standards are maintained during food preparation and production;
Receives deliveries and checks for damage, quantity and quality and validates receipts as ordered.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Current Food safe level 1;
Must have a minimum of 2 years related work experience with a preference in a Residential Care Community kitchen working with seniors;
Must have the ability to communicate tactfully and maturely when interacting with residents, staff, suppliers, volunteers, and the family and guests of our residents;
Must have an understanding of texture modifications, allergies and food sensitivities
Please note: A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable seniors. TB test is required.*
