We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and analytical Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a critical controller role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and providing valuable financial insights to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the preparation and review of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Oversee and prepare corporate income tax returns, ensuring full compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations.
Plan and execute audits, reviews, and compilation engagements, preparing detailed reports on findings and recommendations for improvement.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal control procedures and accounting policies to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity.
Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to identify trends and potential areas for cost-saving or profit enhancement.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly.
Facilitating Payroll and ROE's.
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to management and clients, communicating complex financial information clearly and providing strategic recommendations.
Stay current with the latest accounting trends, software, and changes in regulations to ensure continuous compliance.
Qualifications
CPA Designation:
Must hold an active Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) license and be a member in good standing with the provincial/territorial regulatory body.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is considered an asset.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong working knowledge of accounting & payroll software (e.g., QuickBooks, Payrworks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Canadian tax laws. HR acumen would be considered an asset.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills. Must be detail-oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Work Ethic:
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with the flexibility to work overtime during peak periods (e.g., tax season).
