Where does the Controller fit in? Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Controller will be responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. The Controller will work closely with the senior leadership team, involved in preparing any required presentations and championing required financial audits. The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of 4 staff members including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll etc. The Controller will ensure that Axiom Group Inc. has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits. What you can expect as our next Controller: Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, support team in identifying discrepancies and reconciling accounts. Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures Oversee all financial, program and production accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with allocated budgets; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and grants as required Preparing and consolidating financial statements and reports. Assist leadership team in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate. Supporting the formulation and implementation of control systems within the organization. Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the VP of Operations & VP of Finance; to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of company financial status Support the CFO around issues and trends in financial operating models and delivery Supporting the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger. Ensuring strict compliance with company and regulatory standards. Preparing and managing accounts using various software programs. Championing & coordinating all audit activity. Following changes in regulations and compiling reports regarding compliance issues, standards and accounting practices. Perform all necessary account, bank and other reconciliations including monthly and year-end reports (Sales, WSIB, Purchases, HST etc.) Compile financial data and maintain spreadsheets Prepare and analyze accrual entries (currency hedging, depreciations, currency exchange reconciliations etc.) Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records Maintain and update Asset files Liaise with other departments, customers, vendors and external auditors. Examine and review work to ensure accuracy Work on assigned Accounting related projects Prepare and forecast cash flow statements Other duties as assigned Are you our next Controller? Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA 5+ years of experience as a Controller or in a Senior Accounting/Finance position 3+ years of People Management experience Experience within the manufacturing industry is required Experience within the automotive industry is an asset Tech Savvy & hands on experience using accounting software such as CaseWare, QuickBooks, Sage 50 etc. Planning and organizational skills Knowledge of inventory and costing Deadline oriented, attention to detail Confidentiality Strong problem solving skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Information and task monitoring Job Types: Permanent, Full-time Benefits: Company events Dental care Extended health care Life insurance On-site parking Paid time off Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: Aurora, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Work Location: In person Perks?!
