Control Technician




Reporting to the Shift Team Lead and as part of the Operations department at Braya Renewable Fuels, the Control Technician is to contribute to a positive working environment with a continued commitment to safety. The goal of a Control Technician is to Safely monitor, control, and optimize the ABB control systems for Operations and improve the quality, efficiency, and safety of the production plant.

Responsibilities:



Work with staff members and coordinate maintenance efforts to ensure control instruments and machinery are working properly. Understand and memorize key emergency response activities. Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods. Positive and mentoring interaction with Outside Operators. Strive to meet start-up and directed process spec changes timelines/deadlines, safely. Perform other administrative tasks such as recording test results and other data about the plant's operation. Responsible for fieldwork, troubleshooting, and reporting problems with the production process or equipment to shift managers and maintenance engineers Inspections of all key process points in the facility, to identify anything abnormal. If an issue is identified, make necessary machinery and equipment adjustments and implement the proper response, including notifying supervisors Ensure that the products being produced meet all specifications Participate in health and safety programs Collaborate with supervisors and peers to identify and correct potential health and safety/environmental hazards Follow safe work practices through safety/environment and housekeeping practices Participate in maintenance activities as required Participate in all training programs as assigned Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:



3rd class Power Engineering Certificate is considered an asset; 4th class will be considered 5 years' Refinery Experience Understanding of advanced control systems. DCS experience in ABB is an asset Experience in Hydrogen and Steam production will be considered an asset Ability to use reason and logic to solve mechanical and chemical problems. Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees Detail-oriented with proficiency for accuracy Motivated and hard-working with a professional attitude An exemplary record in Health, Safety, and Environment is essential Proven leadership and problem-solving capabilities and ability to meet deadlines Computer literacy (an asset), i.e., Microsoft Office and (Computerized Maintenance Management System) such as Maximo or SAP Comprehensive knowledge of refinery operations or Industrial background Ability to use reason and logic to solve mechanical and process problems Dependable and persistent, and work well as part of a team

Physical Demands:

Regularly lifts/moves objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50 lbs are required. Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending, and twisting; regular standing, walking, and climbing. Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. Ladders/scaffolding). Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards.
