The incumbent must develop, optimize and support automation systems and applications throughout the refinery. In addition, it must ensure proper operation, reliability of process control systems and applications. It must also ensure the computer security of the process control network.

• Ensure the security of automation systems through the installation of updates and antivirus programs by minimizing possible impacts on the operation;
• Ensure the complete integrity and maintenance of all automation systems at the refinery;
• Establish corporate requirements for improving computer security (Cybersecurity) of the process control network;
• Participate in engineering projects to add or modify automation systems and applications;
• Participate in the justification, design, development, implementation and updating of refinery automation systems and applications (hardware and software);
• Design, implement and implement control system operating interfaces in collaboration with the operation;
• Participate in exchanges with other Valero Group sites, developments in standards and new technologies;
• Make recommendations as a contact person for the refinery in the development of corporate standards developed by the Process control network (PCN) group;
• Prepare and participate in the Change Management Process (MOC) and Safe Task Analysis (AST);
• Have exemplary conduct and attitude in health and safety.

Qualifications

• Have a college diploma in one of the following fields: Instrumentation, automation, computer science or robotics;
• Have 7 to 10 years of relevant work experience;
• experience in the administration of computer networks;
• Be fluent in French since the work location in Levis (In the province of Quebec, Canada)
• Be able to work under pressure and have the ability to make quick decisions when a problem occurs with process control equipment or application;
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously;
• Be available outside normal working hours and be able to respond to emergency calls;
• Maintain a high level of skills by regularly taking external training;
• Have experience with distributed software and control systems. Honeywell is considered an asset;
• Experience in refining is considered an asset.

About the Jean Gaulin Refinery

The Jean Gaulin Refinery, which began operations in 1971, is a strategic energy infrastructure in Quebec and in North America as a whole. It is the largest refinery in Quebec and the second largest in Canada in terms of capacity and it handles crude oil from overseas, the Gulf of Mexico and North America, which is shipped by pipelines and tankers to its deep-water port that operates year round on the St. Lawrence River. Close to 480 permanent employees and more than 200 contract employees work at the refinery.

The refinery\'s reliable and efficient facilities have a production capacity of 235,000 barrels a day. Its configuration is suited to mainly handle crude oil (acid, light and shale crude), and major consumer products (gas, diesel, jet fuel, propane and heating oil). The refinery has a storage capacity of 8.7 million barrels of crude, and intermediate and refined products. It can also store liquefied petroleum gas.

The refinery has been upgraded numerous times since 1971. From 2000 to 2020, Valero will have invested more than $1.9 billion in projects at the L\xc3\xa9vis refinery to achieve various objectives such as increasing its performance, preserving the mechanical integrity of its facilities, diversifying its supply sources, optimizing its employees\' working environment and improving its environmental record.

Substantial amounts have also been invested to harmonize the refinery\'s activities with the community. A greenbelt was developed, and a $5-million enhancement project was implemented.
