The Commercial & Risk Department is looking for a Contract Adviser who will support the Contracts Manager in the contract administration of a project from implementation throughout the closeout.
The Contracts Adviser supporting the Contracts Manager will work pro-actively to minimize project liabilities and commercial risks to the Company.
The Contracts Administrator will report administratively to the project director of the specific project to which they are assigned, and functionally to the Director, Contracts and Commercial.
How will you contribute to the team?
Support in the formulation, negotiation, legal review and execution of contracts, subcontracts and change orders, including commercial claims and other legal actions.
Monitor the performance of project partners and subcontractors in the discharge of contractual obligations and advise the project management of potential problems and opportunities.
Identify and analyze potential commercial risks and liabilities associated with the project.
Work effectively with other corporate support groups such as legal, finance and risk management.
Support formulating self-consistent and commercially sound terms and conditions for proposals, tenders and bids.
What will you contribute?
An university degree in engineering, finance, law or an MBA with at least 3 to 5 years of experience with contract formulation, negotiation and administration in construction or high technology industry, or equivalent in experience and education. Formal training in contract law or contract administration is an asset.
Knowledge of commercial and contractual customs and practices, and their application to the roles and relationships into which the company enters
Must understand client and client organizations, objectives, personnel and environment
Must have the ability to reconcile usually disparate objectives of buyer and seller as contracting parties
Superior writing skills
Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and tight timeline
Strong attention to details, including identifying the root cause of the problem
Strong administrative and organizational skills
