Job Description

We're looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Contract Specialist to join our team in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland! The Contract Specialist will ensure compliance, minimize risks, and help align contracts with strategic goals. Collaborating with both internal teams and external partners, the role will provide expert contract guidance, lead supplier evaluations, and ensure every contract is followed through from start to finish.



This position will play a vital role in resolving challenges, keeping contract records spot-on, supporting project change management, and ensuring smooth integration of contract deliverables into projects. THE DAY-TO-DAY



Contract Management & Compliance:



Support the development and enhancement of contract management policies, procedures, and best practices. Prepare, distribute, and maintain contract documentation, ensuring an organized system of records. Track contract deadlines, monitor adherence to contractual requirements, and ensure compliance during execution. Collaborate with project teams to manage change and track completion of contractual deliverables using integrated tools. Assist in resolving contract conflicts and issues as they arise. Contribute to process improvements to streamline contract management practices and reduce inefficiencies.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Negotiation:



Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing guidance on contract requirements. Participate in, facilitate, and/or lead contract review discussions, identifying potential risks and deviations. Support and participate in the negotiation, review, and execution of customer and supplier agreements. Facilitate supplier evaluations and re-evaluations to ensure quality and compliance. Provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders on contract management processes and requirements. Taking on additional duties as required to support the team and organization.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Legal Studies, or a related field.



Relevant Experience and Knowledge:



5+ years of relevant experience in contract administration, management, or a similar role and have a background in contract-related roles, such as Contract Administrator or Contract Manager, with hands-on experience in risk assessment and mitigation. A strong understanding of contract law and procurement regulations is essential, along with the ability to draft and interpret contracts effectively. Experience in integrating contracts into project execution and managing contract deliverables.

Power Skills:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a keen attention to detail, strong writing abilities, and excellent organizational skills. They will possess strong analytical capabilities, enabling them to make informed decisions based on contract terms and associated risks. Additionally, the candidate should be adept at working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels, including staff, managers, and external partners, ensuring effective communication and seamless teamwork.



Additional Requirements:



Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and contract management tools. Fluency in English (verbal and written). Strong sense of urgency and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining industry knowledge.

Assets:

Assets for this role include additional legal qualifications such as a paralegal certification, knowledge of US and/or Canadian federal procurement laws, and bilingual proficiency in French (spoken and written). Experience in supplier evaluations and vendor management would also be a valuable asset.



ELIGIBILITY

Please be advised that obtaining a security clearance is a mandatory requirement for this position. As part of the clearance process, candidates will undergo an extensive background check and personal reference verification to assess their eligibility.



Furthermore, to qualify for both the clearance and this position, applicants must be either Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
