Job Description

We're looking for a creative and reliable student to join our marketing team as a

Content Assistant

. This part-time role will support our Instagram presence by capturing and editing engaging short-form content (Reels, Stories and other fun, student-focused visuals) designed to connect with student audiences to highlight student life and promote UMSU Businesses. The Content Assistant will report directly to the

Marketing Manager

and work alongside the Social Media Coordinator, contributing to UMSU businesses promotion, campaigns and event coverage.

This role is best suited for someone who already has experience creating digital content and is confident working independently within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Capture and edit short-form video content (e.g., Instagram Reels and stories) for use on our official Instagram accounts Attend campus events and student activities to gather footage and create engaging content. Pitch creative ideas that align with current trends and student interests. Submit content drafts to the Marketing Manager for review and approval. Organize and maintain a shared folder of content assets. Ensure all content meets brand guidelines and accessibility standards (e.g., captions, alt text).

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled as a UM student.

Demonstrated experience

in digital content creation (portfolio or sample work required). Familiarity with Instagram and its features, especially Reels. Proficient in mobile editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Canva, InShot). Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with the team. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow direction. Must be comfortable being on camera and filming others. Experience with photography and graphic design is considered an asset.
