In this role, you will work with a diverse network of technical teams providing continuous onsite technical support and guidance to operations, sustaining projects, risk management and technology development.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in Process or Contact Engineering roles at oilsands, refinery, petrochemical, and/or pipeline distributions facilities

A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering

Registered or immediately eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as a professional engineer

Experience facilitating risk assessments and hazard and operability studies (HAZOP)

A valid driver's license and a clean driving record

Responsibilities:

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide support to ensure that operational targets are met, as well as support expense projects and process changes, deliver on corrective actions, and troubleshoot process upsets/incidents

Provide technical support for tasks such as: risk assessments; regulatory reporting; operational procedure reviews; management of change (MOC) planning and execution; bottleneck identification; turnaround support; and technical investigations and root cause analyses

Develop tools to improve both process and equipment monitoring and performance projection

Perform calculations to identify required process conditions, production loss, emission spills and required chemicals

Develop and maintain current technical documents and tools such as: process flow diagram (PFD), heat and material balance (H&MB), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), line designation table (LDT), technical operating envelope (TOE), etc.

Location & other key details

You will work out of our Firebag location, which is our largest in situ operation and one of the largest in the world (and located 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta)

The shift schedule is a 4 days on / 3 days off rotation (10-hr days)

This is a camp based, fly-in/fly-out position. Flights are provided from hub cities (Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatoon)
