Consultant, Risk Management & Patient Safety

Job Description


Union: Non-Union Location: Forty Green Work Type: Full Time Shift: 7.5 hour shifts, Monday to Friday
Summary: The Consultant is responsible for:

  • Providing support and leadership for risk management and patient safety processes throughout the organization
  • Championing, marketing, managing and monitoring the corporate patient safety concerns reporting software
  • Managing the legal claims administration process and related correspondence with hospital insurer, adjuster and legal counsel
  • Developing, maintaining and leading the corporate Quality of Care review process
  • Providing advice and consultation to internal stakeholders in response to risk and patient safety related inquiries
  • Coordinating risk management and patient safety corporate projects/initiatives such as the Risk Assessment Checklist (RAC) process and the Integrated Risk Management (IRM) Plan)
  • Development, implementation and review of policies and processes required to improve patient safety and reduce risk within the organization
  • Participation on corporate committees and working groups from a risk management and patient safety perspective

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Healthcare Management or a health related discipline
  • Masters degree in Business or Health Services Administration or a health related discipline (preferred)
  • Certification in healthcare risk management and/or patient safety (preferred)
  • Previous experience in a health care setting preferably in risk management, patient safety and/or quality management
  • Demonstrated problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks and time demands
  • Superior judgment, tact and diplomacy including proven meeting and group facilitation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills including the ability to present information to large groups
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and proficiency including all Microsoft applications
  • Experience with data analysis measurement and techniques
