Most notably, our client is leading the acclaimed Fundy Quay Waterfront Project, a five-building mixed-use development comprised of over 600 housing units, which will transform the Saint John Waterfront, bringing new life to a historic area of the city.

Role Description:
As the Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fundy Quay construction site. Ensuring work is completed safely and consistent with project specifications, you will lead and direct all on-site activities, including site security, manpower, and logistics. As a seasoned construction leader, you will establish effective, safe, and efficient on-site work methods while mentoring the construction team on best practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure that the project is built according to the approved plan, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes and that all content is current;
  • Prepare, drive and manage the construction schedule in conjunction with the internal project team and subcontractors, ensuring that site activities, completion dates and milestones are met;
  • Lead OH&S and Environmental initiatives, promoting HS&E standards, policies, procedures, acts and regulations and ensuring they are being followed by everyone on site;
  • Create and monitor weekly \xe2\x80\x9clook-ahead\xe2\x80\x9d schedules;
  • Maintain a daily log of construction site operations, identifying any gaps or areas that need to be addressed;
  • Problem-solve and recommend innovative methods that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity;
  • Provide people leadership through establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with site staff and subcontractors to promote positive morale;
  • Ensuring that orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings and training is being conducted and documented as necessary.
Your Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you have demonstrated success in a similar role as a Senior Superintendent, leading large-scale multi-unit residential, institutional or commercial construction projects from start to completion. You are an organized, safety-focused problem solver, with an eye for detail. More importantly, you take great pride in the quality of your work and have a strong desire to contribute to the growth and development of the city of Saint John.

Qualifications include:
  • 10+ years\' of demonstrated, progressive experience as a Superintendent, ideally in multi-unit residential, commercial or institutional construction;
  • Gold Seal Certification would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated safety leadership, promoting safety standards, policies, procedures, acts and regulations and ensuring they are being followed by everyone on site;
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate construction issues in complex situations and create solutions;
  • Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with clients, consultants, trades, and internal employees;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills;
  • Working knowledge of Procore and other construction technology platforms;
  • Comprehensive understanding of local, provincial, and federal construction regulations and building codes.
