Job Description

We are looking for Construction Project Manager to support our Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) Branch in St. John\'s. The Construction Project Manager would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

Within the property management unit of RPPM is an Engineering Services and Project Delivery group that provides complete planning, project management, design and construction management services for the NCR, for base building renewal/recapitalization projects, as well as research program related construction projects. As a part of the Project Delivery Group, this position is responsible for the overall planning, direction, coordination, control and execution of specific construction projects in accordance with project management best practices and ensuring the desired outcomes.
The construction project manager\'s responsibilities span a broad spectrum, covering all areas of project management including Project Planning, Cost Management, Time Management, Quality Management, Risk Management, Safety Management and Contract Administration.

Screening Criteria


Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education


College diploma in Architectural, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, other related disciplines or a relevant trade license.
An equivalent combination of education, training and extensive experience relevant to the position may be considered.
Formal designation as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) would be considered as an asset.

Experience


  • Significant* and recent experience in coordinating construction projects comprising of building design, construction, renovation and commissioning, especially science buildings.
  • Experience in contract management and negotiation, accounting and planning and budgeting of financial and human resources, ideally in a federal government environment.
  • Experience using software solutions for preparing reports, development of spreadsheets, data analysis and presentations.
  • Significant* and recent experience providing advice and recommendations in developing and articulating requirements for specific projects in terms of scope, timing, budget and approvals.
  • Experience identifying and tracking project risks, develop mitigation plans to manage risks, minimize exposure of the organization to risks and non-compliance to policies and regulations.
  • Significant experience in developing construction tender packages.

  • Recent is defined as: within the last (2) years.

  • Advanced knowledge of planning and construction methods, processes and procedures.
  • Solid knowledge of estimating, budgeting and scheduling practices for construction projects.
  • Solid knowledge of building codes and construction safety standards and practices.
  • Solid knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of construction project management, including techniques and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of legal issues and safety standards related to construction.

Relocation


Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with the NRC\'s directives.

Compensation


From $87,748 to $103,651 per annum.

  • Many of the daily tasks require physical activities including climbing, reaching, lifting and working on construction sites.
