Location: Edmonton, AB

Rate: Starting wage is $48.45 per hour

This position works closely with Project Management, Engineering, Lands/Environment, Forestry/Access, Construction Leads, Electrical Construction and Commissioning, Technical Services and Construction Site Management to develop project design base memorandum (DBM), execution plans, work plans, multiple types of estimates and other related documents. This position will also provide constructability, permit scheduling, resource requests, and outage feasibility reviews. Responsibilities also include preparing, applying and ensuring thorough controls procedures and processes are followed and ensuring compliance with standards, procedures, specifications and codes.

What You Get to Do:

  • Work with Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Commissioning and Construction teams to understand their requirements for project support.
  • Develop project execution plans, execution work plans and other related documents prior to project execution.
  • Develop estimates for all disciplines for Transmission and Large Distribution.
  • Develop estimates and execution schedules as required for non-regulated opportunities.
  • Participate in site visits to determine construction requirements/limitations.
  • Prepare and develop all construction requirements into labor service contracts.
  • Establish and maintain cost breakdown structure for budgets and other parameters for complete project scope based upon approved estimate.
  • Support Project Management team with forecasting based on cost breakdown structures created when required.
  • Work with project teams to create and maintain appropriate work schedules.
  • Collaborate with Construction Leads to maximize alignment and efficiencies in work plan development throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and maintenance of resource forecasts to support field execution teams.
  • Participate in constructability reviews of engineering designs.
  • Review contractor technical submissions for compliance and prepare recommendation documents.
  • Co-lead and facilitate all execution readiness review meetings.
  • Develop and maintain construction planning processes and provide recommendations for improvements as required.
  • Provide constructability/technical feedback and apply lessons learned from best construction practices and support post constructability reviews.
Qualifications:
  • Technical Diploma in a related discipline from a recognized institute of technology or Journeyman Powerline Technician or Electrician Certificate.
  • 3-5 years related experience in project coordination and/or construction.
  • Experience in utility grade substation and/or transmission lines construction is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in complex outage planning and coordination would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, decision making, organization and planning skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook.
