The De Beers Group has a full-time opportunity for a Construction Planner/Scheduler within the Mining department at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine located in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Mine Engineering Superintendent and working a 4 days in/3 days out rotation. Based in Yellowknife, the ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm. This is a key role to provide direct input to drive decisions and activities for the construction of tailings storage facility at Gahcho Kue.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for discerning field data to support inputs required for tailings storage facility construction and scheduling;
  • Responsible for the development of short-range dyke construction schedule packages;
  • Optimize the dyke construction schedules with long-term mine development requirements;
  • Actively support development and implementation of construction and supporting projects;
  • Proactively support the mining department to solve problems through development of plans and schedules;
  • Conduct project planning, producing project schedules, analyzing project progress and reporting on the project planning indicators;
  • Data analysis and trade-off studies to improve short & mid-term impacts on construction of tailings storage facilities;
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture within the mining department through leadership and coordination of projects and activities;
  • Actively reconcile demonstrated performance data with key production indicators to identify and recommend improvement opportunities where applicable;
  • Assist with the optimization of short-range scheduling and design of the tailings storage facility, through application of sound feedback and methods;
  • Assist production staff in the completion of projects where necessary according to agreed plans; and,
  • Actively contribute to the design and implementation of site-wide execution plans;
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Analytics, Project Management or similar;
  • Three + years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in planning and scheduling;
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently;
  • Strong focus on systems and processes improvement;
  • Strong background in data analytics;
  • Strong safety record and ability to implement established safety systems;
  • Ability to drive/achieve results;
  • Ability to communicate, share information and seek input from different teams;
  • Planning, time management, and problem-solving skills; and
  • Experience producing, developing and presenting reports.
Beneficial if you have:
  • Experience in open pit mines, large construction project planning; and
  • Experience managing and leading teams
