We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator/Project Manager to join our team at the REGINA branch, which is growing rapidly and has an exciting variety of ongoing projects.
Job Summary:
As a Commercial Estimator/Project Manager, you will play a key role in both estimating and managing commercial and residential glazing projects. This includes analyzing project plans, creating accurate bids, overseeing project execution, and ensuring high-quality results. The position requires a strong understanding of construction methods, including commercial glass and glazing systems. Real & genuine industry knowledge surrounding glazing systems with curtain wall, storefront, automatic doors & windows is important. You will work with a dynamic team to manage projects of various sizes, from small installations to large commercial developments. This role also offers potential for career advancement in a fast-growing company.
Estimation:
Analyze Project Plans: Review project specifications and requirements to develop detailed and competitive cost estimates.
Site Visits: Attend job sites to gather accurate scope information and assess potential project challenges.
Pricing: Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices while maintaining quality.
Proposals and Bids: Prepare and present clear and professional proposals and bids for review and submission.
Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of estimates, bid documents, and revisions for future reference.
Project Management:
Project Planning & Execution: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of assigned projects. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure timely completion.
Client Interaction: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and providing updates.
Monitor Costs: Track project costs, identifying and addressing any variances proactively.
Internal Coordination: Facilitate communication between teams to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
Project Documentation: Prepare and manage project documentation, including contracts, permits, schedules, and reports.
Post-Project Reviews: Conduct reviews to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales and operations teams to ensure smooth transitions between estimation and project execution.
Provide guidance to junior team members and offer expertise in both estimating and project management when necessary.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and processes, with expertise in glazing or commercial glass projects preferred.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
Proficiency with estimation tools and project management software.
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members.
Ability to problem-solve independently while collaborating effectively with others.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in glazing or construction, with 3+ years in estimating and project management roles.
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience may be considered.
Licensing: Alberta or Saskatchewan Class 5 (or better) driver's license required.
Other: Ability and willingness to visit job sites as necessary.
