L'Universite Bishop's recherche un ou une conseillerere a la transition et a la retention etudiante pour un poste temporaire a temps plein. Se rapportant a la gestionnaire de la vie en residence et sur le campus, le ou a la titulaire du poste sera responsable de concevoir et de mettre en oeuvre des programmes et des mesures de soutien visant a accompagner les etudiantes tout au long de leur parcours universitaire, de leur arrivee jusqu'a leur depart. L'un des objectifs principaux de ce poste est de favoriser la perseverance et la satisfaction des etudiantes, contribuant ainsi a l'atteinte des cibles institutionnelles en matiere de retention.
La personne ideale pour ce poste aura de l'experience aupres de populations etudiantes diversifiees, notamment les etudiantes de premiere generation, les etudiantes autochtones, noires et racisees (BIPOC), les etudiantes-athletes ainsi que les apprenantes non traditionnels. Le ou la conseillerere a la transition et a la retention etudiante jouera un role essentiel dans la creation d'un environnement accueillant et inclusif, favorisant la reussite academique et personnelle de toutes les etudiantes.
La semaine de travail est de 32.5 heures, du lundi au vendredi avec des soirees et fins de semaine occasionnelles. La periode de travail pour ce poste est de septembre 2025 a septembre 2026. Ce poste ne depassera pas deux ans.
Nature des taches
Transition a l'entree a l'universite :
Coordonner, mettre en oeuvre et soutenir les programmes de transition existants a l'ensemble des etudiantes entrantes, en offrant un accompagnement cible aux etudiantes de premiere generation, aux etudiantes BIPOC (noires, autochtones et racisees), ainsi qu'aux apprenantes non traditionnels.
Collaborer avec des services tels que l'Admission, le Recrutement, les Residences, les Services de soutien aux etudiantes autochtones, Bishop's International et d'autres services aux etudiants afin d'assurer une integration harmonieuse.
Favoriser les connexions precoces entre les etudiantes et les services cles et communautes du campus.
Offrir un accompagnement personnalise aux etudiantes rencontrant des difficultes lors de leur arrivee a l'universite.
Travailler avec les parents et les personnes soutenantes afin de promouvoir la reussite etudiante et l'engagement sur le campus.
Transition pendant le parcours universitaire :
Identifier les etudiantes a risque de decrochage et les accompagner activement a l'aide de suivis personalises, de campagnes de sensibilisation et de systemes d'alerte precoce.
Developper des programmes axes sur la retention qui renforcent le sentiment d'appartenance, en particulier chez les groupes en quete d'equite et les populations sous-representees.
Collaborer avec les entraineures, les conseillereres academiques et d'autres partenaires pour soutenir les etudiantes-athletes dans la conciliation de leurs engagements academiques et sportifs.
Travailler en etroite collaboration avec les partenaires du campus pour offrir des ateliers, des programmes et des initiatives communautaires favorisant la resilience et l'engagement etudiant.
Transition a la sortie de l'universite :
Accompagner les etudiantes qui se preparent a obtenir leur diplome, a transferer ou a quitter l'universite en les orientant vers les services pertinents tels que les Services de carriere et de transition, ainsi que le Bureau de l'engagement des diplomees.
Coordonner les communications et les programmes de sortie pour assurer un depart positif et soutenu.
Participer a la collecte de donnees (ex. : sondages de sortie) afin d'eclairer les strategies futures en matiere de transition et de retention.
Autres responsabilites :
Sieger sur des comites et groupes de travail universitaires axes sur la reussite etudiante, la retention et l'equite.
Contribuer a l'evaluation et a l'amelioration continue des programmes et des services de transition.
Tenir a jour des dossiers precis et participer a la production de rapports sur l'engagement et la retention etudiante.
Se tenir informee des meilleures pratiques nationales et internationales en matiere de transitions, de sentiment d'appartenance et de perseverance etudiante.
Accomplir toutes autres taches connexes assignees par la gestionnaire de la vie en residence et sur le campus.
Effectue toutes autres taches connexes au besoin.
Qualifications et exigences
Diplome d'Etudes Secondaires ;
Une (1) annee d'experience pertinente de travail dans un environnement de service a la clientele ;
Maitrise de l'anglais,etbonne connaissance du francais ;
Capacite atravailler de facon autonomeet en equipe, et a effectuer plusieurs tachessimultanement ;
Bonne competenceinformatique etcapacite a travailleravec la clientele de facon courtoise ;
Connaissance dusysteme integre de gestion de bibliotheque,specialement les modulesde circulationet catalogue en ligneconsideree commeun atout.

Bishop's University is seeking a Student Transition and Retention Advisor for a temporary full-time position. Reporting to the Manager of Residence and Campus Life, the Student Transition and Retention Advisor is responsible for designing and delivering programs and supports that assist students in successfully entering, navigating, and exiting the university. A key focus of this role is to promote student persistence and satisfaction, thereby contributing to institutional retention goals.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation students, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) students, student-athletes, and non-traditional learners. The Student Transition and Retention Advisor will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports all students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
This position has a work week of 32.5 hours from Monday to Friday with occasional evenings and weekends required. The working period for this role is September 2025 to September 2026. This position will not exceed two years.
Nature of duties and responsibilities
Transition In:
Coordinate, implement and support existing transition programs for all in-coming students, including targeted support for first-generation students, BIPOC students, and non-traditional learners.
Partner with departments such as Admissions, Recruitment, Residence Life, Indigenous Student Support Services, Bishop's International, and other Student Services departments to ensure a seamless integration experience.
Facilitate early connections between students and key campus services and communities.
Provide individualized support for students experiencing challenges during their initial transition to university life.
Working with parents and supporters to champion student success and campus engagement.
Transition Through:
Identify and proactively engage with students at risk of attrition through check-ins, outreach campaigns, and early alert systems.
Develop retention-focused programming that supports a strong sense of belonging, particularly for equity-deserving groups and underrepresented populations.
Collaborate with coaches, academic advisors, and other stakeholders to support student-athletes in balancing academic and athletic commitments.
Work closely with campus partners to offer workshops, programming and community-building initiatives that foster resilience and campus engagement.
Transition Out:
Support students preparing to graduate, transfer, or withdraw by connecting them to relevant campus services such as Career and Transitions Services and the Alumni and Engagement Office.
Coordinate exit programming and communications to ensure a positive and supported departure from the university.
Participate in data collection efforts (e.g., exit surveys) to inform future transition and retention strategies.
Other Responsibilities:
Serve on university committees and working groups focused on student success, retention, and equity.
Contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of transition programs and services.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting on student engagement and retention outcomes.
Stay informed on national and international best practices in student transitions, belonging, and persistence.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager of Residence and Campus Life.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field (Education, Psychology, Social Work, Student Affairs, or equivalent).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in student services, advising, or a similar role in a post-secondary setting.
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in student support services.
Experience working with first-generation students, BIPOC students, student-athletes, and/or non-traditional learners.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of French is considered an asset.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.
Familiarity with student development theory and evidence-based approaches to student success and retention.
Knowledge of Bishop's University's campus culture, student demographics, and programs is considered a strong asset
